3 passes in the HKCEE, and Level 2 / Grade E or above in Chinese Language & English Language*, plus a pass in 1 AL subject or 2 AS-level subjects in the HKALE; or
A recognised Pre-Associate Degree or Diploma; or
Being 23 years of age or above plus 2-year related working experience; or
Other equivalent qualifications to be assessed by LIFE.
This programme is specially designed to provide office workers and secondary school graduates with a vocation-oriented and broad-based introduction to business communication. The programme integrates various disciplines and aims to provide all business professionals with superb communication skill, both verbal and non-verbal, to meet the ever-changing business world.
This programme aims to:
equip students with the essential elements of business communication; and
provide students with the best practice of communication methods; and
raise students’ awareness of various ways of improving business communications skills; and
grasp the nuances of languages and cultures in a business context.
Students are able to familiarize with both English and Chinese Communications in a short period of time.
This programme is recognized under the Qualifications Framework (QF: level 4; QR registration number: 11/001311/4; and the validity period from 13 April 2011 to 31 December 2015).
1.5 years programme with 320 contact hours.
It consists of 10 modules in total.
Classes are usually offered in the evening of Monday to Friday (from 7pm to 10pm) AND in Saturday afternoon (from 2pm to 7pm), usually two lessons per week.
Three intakes per year.
Medium of Instruction
The medium of instruction will be in English and Putonghua supplemented by Cantonese (Study materials will mainly be in English.)
Assessment
Students’ performance is assessed by the continuous assessments (i.e. written assignment / projects) and examinations. The weighting of assessment for continuous assessments is 60% and examination is 40%.
Except for module: "Putonghua for Business Communication (Reading & Writing)", "Putonghua for Business Communication (Listening & Speaking)" and "Introduction to Business" (50% continuous assessments & 50% examination).
Students must pass both continuous assessment and examination, the passing mark is 50%.
Students are required to achieve a minimum of 80% attendance in each module.
Award
An academic transcript will be issued to each student upon completion of the programme.
A “Professional Diploma in Business Communications" will be awarded upon completion of the programme.
