Government Financial Assistance

Students who are in financial needs may apply for student financial assistance under the following Schemes through the Government:

Tuition Fee Reimbursement
Full-time eligible YJD students will receive reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily completed module, subject to their having attained an overall pass in the module and achieved 80% attendance or above for the module as confirmed by the institutions. However, the modules must be essential for the completion of the YJD programme, and under the programme a student can only receive tuition fee reimbursement for a maximum of 8 modules. As the reimbursement is module-based, students who have failed in individual modules are still eligible for tuition fee reimbursement for the other modules in respect of which they have attained an overall pass. 50% or 100% reimbursement of the tuition fees paid for each satisfactorily completed module will be made, subject to the student's having passed the means test and obtained an Eligibility Certificate (EC) issued by the Student Finance Office indicating that he is eligible for "FULL" or "HALF" level of assistance and his submitting the EC to his institution for Full or Half Fee Reimbursement.

Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS)
The ENLS is applicable to eligible students pursuing specific part-time and full-time post-secondary and continuing and professional education courses. The ENLS provides loan(s) to eligible students to settle tuition fees

Student Travel Subsidy (STS) Scheme
The Student Travel Subsidy (STS) Scheme provides travel subsidy to needy students receiving formal primary, secondary education or attending a full-time day course up to first degree level in an acceptable institution, residing beyond 10 minutes walking distance from school and traveling to school by public transport.

Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA)
The Subsidy Scheme for Internet Access Charges (SIA) provides subsidy to needy families whose children are full-time students pursuing Yi Jin Diploma (YJD) programmes to meet the Internet access charges for e-learning at home for their children. The subsidy is granted on a household basis. Eligible families will receive a flat-rate cash grant, regardless of the number of children in the family.

For details of the government financial assistance, students may contact the Student Finance Office (SFO) of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency.
